Knights to Host St. John’s in NCAA First Round

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 12/17 UCF women’s soccer team (16-2-4) will host St. John’s (11-5-3) in the NCAA Tournament first round on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex. The Knights earned the No. 3 seed in their region and are one of 16 teams in the tournament to earn a national seed.

UCF head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak and Director of Athletics Todd Stansbury chat before the NCAA Championship field was announced Monday.

“We’re obviously really excited to have a national seed,” UCF head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said as her team gathered at Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the NCAA selection show. “To be a No. 3 seed puts us in a good position and that’s sometimes what it’s about when you go to the NCAA Tournament. We’re thrilled and can’t wait to get this tournament started.”

The Knights are also looking forward to at least one more game this season at the UCF Soccer Complex.

“It’s awesome. We love being at home,” senior goalkeeper Lianne Maldonado said. “It gives us more time to recover and regenerate. On top of that, we obviously love being in front of our fans.”
